Preparing for your hospitalization
Should you decide on surgery with Doctor Collignon, he operates exclusively at DELTA hospital, which is part of the CHIREC group in Brussels. There are several steps to follow to properly prepare for and organize your hospitalization. Here are some tips to help you prepare:
Administrative Formalities
The administrative liaison form you receive before your hospital admission is automatically sent to the admissions department. Your administrative file is then opened with the admission date and your choice of room type.
If any information is missing from your administrative file, you will be contacted by phone by the admissions department at least two days before your admission.
If you do not have Belgian or European social security coverage (Belgian mutual insurance, European medical card, S2 form), we will put you in touch with the International Patients Unit.
Steps before your hospitalization
1. Contact with Dr. Collignon's Assistant: You can contact Muriel Hansoul, Dr. Collignon's assistant, to obtain all practical information related to your hospitalization (pre-operative procedures, room choice, hospital admission schedule, number of days, etc.). She is in charge of Dr. Collignon's surgical coordination and can help you prepare optimally for your hospital stay.
2. Pre-operative Examinations: Before your hospitalization, you will need to undergo pre-operative examinations such as a blood test, a consultation with the anesthesiologist, an electrocardiogram, and any other examinations that Dr. Collignon deems necessary. These examinations are performed on an outpatient basis before your hospitalization. You can make an appointment with the pre-operative examinations department by calling +32 (0)2 434 86 41. You will be put in direct contact with a nurse from the department who will schedule the various appointments with you. She will ensure that all examinations are scheduled for the same day. For your information, pre-operative examinations are generally valid for 3 months.
3. Room Choice: Upon admission, you will have a choice between several room types (single, double, or shared). The amount of the bill and the doctors' fees (0 -100-200 or 300%) depend on this choice. Dr. Collignon is not affiliated with the national health insurance scheme. Check your insurance contract to see which room type is covered and choose according to your comfort preference.
4. Packing your Bag: Don't forget to pack your bag with your personal belongings for your hospital stay. You should bring comfortable clothing (dressing gown/robe, pajamas/nightgowns, underwear, slippers), your toiletries (comb/brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, soap, shampoo), bath towels and washcloths, as well as the documents required for your admission (ID card and your current medications).
By following these steps and preparing thoroughly, you will be able to experience your surgery with Dr. Collignon at DELTA Hospital under the best possible conditions.
